When Gregory Hecht and François Bannier opened their trading house in the south of France in the early 2000s, the winegrowers there were a little surprised that these two young, foreign oenologists wanted to settle down there. The two wanted to bring a breath of fresh air to the region, inspired by the experiences they had already gained in other regions.
Year after year they were praised by the critics and their style was described as the "new wine wave - Nouvelle Vague". Very soon the two are also referred to as "Wine Beach Boys", partly because of their surfer looks and partly because of their unconventional approach to winemaking in southern France. A few years later, the two still practice surfing on occasion, also with their children during the summer holidays. A nod to their nickname of the old surfers, Hecht&Bannier have created this new cuvée "Nouvelle Vague". It consists of a selection of their best grapes, grown organically and vinified mainly in concrete tanks. The assemblage is bottled unfined after a light filtration.
