The Subried Kobeln is the highest location on the Spitzerberg and stretches from 210 to 270 meters in height. It lies in the easternmost third of the slope and is very rocky, extremely dry and very wind-exposed.
The total vineyard area on the Kobeln is 4.5 hectares, of which we cultivate 1.1 hectares.
The vineyard was planted in 2008 and is characterized by an extremely low yield every year. Around 6,000 vines only produce around 1,500 kilos of grapes because the soil is so poor.
The wine bears the name “Liebkind” because this plot was treated organically as a pilot project from the start and was so much fun.
A wine of extremes: with intense aromas, dense structure, strong tannins and impressive freshness. The essence of the Spitzerberg.
The grapes are harvested by hand, fermented spontaneously in open vats - without pumping, without cooling or heating.
From time to time the juice from the bottom of the vat is poured by hand over the cap to keep it moist.
So the extraction is very gentle and slow. About 20% of the quantity is not rubbed but pounded with the feet as whole clusters.
A very complex wine with a lot of density, but at the same time fresh and playful. Overall, a wonderful expression of the limestone terroir.

Goes well with red meat. Also a great accompaniment to spicy cheese.
But: also a solo highlight!!!
